Popular solunar tables fail to predict fishing success in North American recreational freshwater trout fisheries

چکیده

Abstract The solunar theory proposes that the position of sun and moon can be used to predict activity rates in fish game species. Several free premium services use this provide tables predicting optimal dates times for fishing hunting success. efficacy these was tested by comparing catch per unit effort (CPUE) a recreational freshwater trout fishery with daily values coincidence trips peak times. CPUE also compared environmental variables including lunar phase, illumination, wind speed. Values predicted each were strongly correlated other however, no significant relationship found between any tested, or illumination. Ambient air temperature showed positive CPUE, more effective predictor success than tested.

Recreational Fishing Use-Values for Michigan’s Great Lake Trout and Salmon Fisheries

The manuscript summarizes the results of a travel cost model developed for recreational angling in Michigan. The model and method are briefly described. The discussion focusses on how Great Lakes trout and salmon catch rates were related to angler behavior. The model is used to value changes in trout and salmon catch rates at Great Lakes fishing sites in Michigan. Fish population levels can be ...

Popular media records reveal multi-decadal trends in recreational fishing catch rates

Despite threats to human wellbeing from ecological degradation, public engagement with this issue remains at low levels. However, studies have shown that crafting messages to resonate with people's personal experiences can enhance engagement. Recreational fishing is one of the principal ways in which people interact with aquatic environments, but long-term data from this perspective are conside...

─Public agencies are being asked to quantitatively assess the impact of land management activities on sensitive populations of salmonids. To aid in these assessments, we developed a Bayesian viability assessment procedure (BayVAM) to help characterize land use risks to salmonids in the Pacific Northwest. This procedure incorporates a hybrid approach to viability analysis that blends qualitative...

Indirect Consequences of Recreational Fishing in Freshwater Ecosystems: An Exploration from an Australian Perspective

Recreational fishing in freshwater ecosystems is a popular pastime in Australia. Although most native fish are endemic, the fauna is depauperate compared to any landmass of similar size. With commercial fishing no longer a major industry in the country’s freshwaters, the future sustainability of these ecosystems will depend heavily on the actions of recreational fishers. However, there has been...

A modified Gordon– Schaefer model is used to analyse the importance of the level of divers...
